What the Horse Industry can Learn from Amazon

It is time to ditch the checkbook and modernize how you do business

I was listening to the CEO of one of the large box store retailers discuss how they are a retailer figuring out how to do technology and Amazon is a technology company that figured out how to do retail. No matter how many hundreds of millions of dollars they invest in technology, they are taking old processes and adding technology to them whereas Amazon created a whole new process that changed how the world buys things.

This resonated with me in the horse industry as we are overall stuck in our old processes. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people say that the only reason they still have a checkbook is to pay various horse bills. Most of the technologies being offered just automate a single aspect of the outdated process to make them a bit faster instead of innovating a new way to work in our technologically evolving world.

For our industry to survive we are going to have to evolve and embrace new processes for running our businesses, managing our horses, and interacting with our clients. How do we engage our next generation of horse professionals and clients? How do we keep our current younger generation engaged? How do we make our businesses scalable in the 21st century?

HorseLinc is a software that changes how we use technology in the horse industry to manage our horse’s lives, make our businesses scalable, and save ourselves and clients time and money.

· HorseLinc connects service providers, trainers, and owners in one platform to eliminate the time-consuming data entry and service history access.

· Saving time coordinating between employees within your business can help make it more scalable managing more horses with less time, allowing your employees to focus on what’s really important…the horses.

· Saving time and money is not only important for your business, but for your clients’ experience as well. Eliminate the lost email or paper invoices, follow up texts and phone calls, and lower the frustration levels with interactions between professionals and owners.

Embracing change is not a strength of our industry, however we need to look for ways to incorporate industry transforming technologies to really help us thrive and grow our industry in the coming years.
